Magpie Mandala - Print (Retail 11x14)For this one, it was yet another dive off the deep end with Photoshop and some of the aspects from my recent piece, The Magpies. I really liked the Aztec style sun that I drew in the top corner of The Magpies, and wanted to expand it further so a few layer duplications and mirror flippages later, and kaboom Aztec sun explosion! I also dig feathers, and thought that the magpies feather work could use some more love. This piece was created for a poster

I have hiked the dunes in many different climates

and I’ve been drawing them in one form or another since I first moved here back in 2002

The first clearing we came to was on top of a cliff overlooking the ocean and mountains in the distance

from the clothes we wear

This particular moose was spotted on the very same day that I was inspired to draw The River Dance piece

we nicknamed him

I can remember several nights watching the moon rise from the east with the gentle glow of Boulder far below

The ability to combine this expression with the power of amplification

and all the exciting things I hope to accomplish in the future

including dashboards

but I just couldn't resist

and opted for a more limited and balanced palette
