STRATHAIRD & STRATHNAVER - 1950s fold-out interiors brochureP&O Lines: A fold out (15" by 20") interiors brochure from the mid 1950s for the beloved STRATHAIRD and STRATHNAVER sisters. These ships were the pride of the P&O fleet when introduced in 1931 and 1932 and carried three funnels to connote speed, although only the central funnel was functional. After valiant troop ship duties during WW2, they rejoined P&O and operated with the new HIMALAYA on the Australian run. But in 1954, when the new ARCADIA and
"Express Liner" meant taking a slower motorship that made a few stops along the way
then to White Star
The ship had been built on spec in Italy but the owners went bankrupt
and plans of seven decks
